PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY
EVERY WEDNESDAY 2:30
FREE DESSERT AND TEA

What is a prayer shawl?
Whether they are called Prayer Shawls, Comfort Shawls, Peace Shawls, or Mantles, etc., the shawl maker begins with prayers and blessings for the recipient. The intentions are continued throughout the creation of the shawl. Upon completion, a final blessing is offered before the shawl is sent on its way. Some recipients have continued the kindness by making a shawl and passing it onto someone in need. Thus, the blessing ripples from person-to-person, with both the giver and receiver feeling the unconditional embrace of a sheltering God!

Who do prayer shawls benefit?
Shawls can be used for: undergoing medical procedures; as a comfort after a loss or in times of stress; during bereavement; prayer or meditation; marriage ceremonies; birthing, nursing a baby; bridal shower or wedding gift; leading ritual; during an illness and recovery; ministering to others; graduation, birthday, anniversary, ordination, holiday gifts; or just socializing...there are endless possibilities!

Our contribution.
We will be providing the space whereby others can gather to both teach and knit/crochet prayer shawls to be given away to those in deep need of comfort. It is in this group environment that a sense of community and divinely driven purpose will go in to each stitch that will comfort and bless others.

Your contribution.
While there is no fee to be involved with the ministry, participants are asked to provide their own needles and supply their own yarn for shawls to be given away. We also seek teachers who are willing to teach their skill, either knitting or crocheting, to others of all skill levels.

Who can participate?
All skill levels are welcome, both advanced and beginners. Please join us in this outreach ministry!

YOGA NIDRA
FIRST TUESDAY OF EVERY MONTH 7:00 pm
(Please arrive by 6:50)
$7.00

Yoga Nidra is a form of yoga that EVERYONE can participate in. Since there is no body movement, no previous knowledge or skills of yoga are necessary.

The evening is led by Jan Wheeler, a clinical psychologist from Columbia, whose gentle voice encourages inner peace. Jan's passion for helping others to experience the benefits of Yoga Nidra is evident in how she leads the class.

Yoga Nidra assists in helping to reach deep relaxation and was described in the Yoga Journal as follows:

Also known as yogic sleep or sleep with awareness, Yoga Nidra is an ancient practice that is rapidly gaining popularity in the West. It is intended to induce full-body relaxation and a deep meditative state of consciousness. "We live in a chronically exhausted, overstimulated world," says Los Angeles yoga teacher Rod Stryker. "Yoga Nidra is a systematic method of complete relaxation, holistically addressing our physiological, neurological, and subconscious needs."
